Luly Yang began creating couture gowns in her Seattle-based studio in 2000. Seattle Bride Magazine has named her as the Best Couture Dress Designer for eight consecutive years, and in 2007 she received the prestigious Nellie Cashman Woman Business Owner of the Year Award. In 2010, Luly was honored to be one of Puget Sound Business Journal’s Women of Influence, an award recognizing local women for outstanding business and philanthropic contributions. Born in Taiwan, Luly was introduced to the arts and fine garment creation by her mother and grandmother. Her formal study included a degree in Graphic Design from the University of Washington. A decade in the architecture field and years of experience as a certified fitness instructor laid the foundation for her sculpted fabric creations. “The woman and her body are the soul of the design,” she explains, and always credits her clients as her biggest source of inspiration.
