Manhattan Flavor on Mercer Island
I had to try both the Turkey Pastrami and Chef Robins Reuben - each was fantastic (as was the coleslaw, and sweet potato fries...still full!) Mercer Island welcomed (with many open arms) the addition of new restaurant, Stopsky's Deli this week. Doors opened just a few short days ago, and already they have themselves a cult following of loyal Stopsky's "stoppers."
This New York style deli with its homemade baked and pickled goods, in house corned beef and pastrami lived up to the hype yesterday. Chef Robin Leventhal (owner of Crave restaurant on Capital Hill, and star/contestant on Bravo TV's Top Chef) darted across the restaurant talking to customers, delivering sides, all with an eye on the kitchen. So busy in fact, there were a few brief moments where there was no corned beef. None! That busy. I must say, stopping into Mercer Islands newest talk of the town did not disappoint. Cheers guys - I will be back for that burger!
