The Beauty of La Paz, Baja California South

For the last few years, I have been dreaming of a second home to escape to with sun.  What's on the list?  Somewhere with some sun, but not humid, where I can get a way from it all, but still be connected and preferably on the same coastline.  It can't take forever to get to.  I want to be near the water-I love boating, snorkeling and just walking a beach.  Finally, comes the last requirement-it won't take my whole piggy bank to buy.    Hmmmmm, I think I may have found it. La Paz, located just 2 1/2 hours North of Cabo is a place all it's on.  On the Sea of Cortez, it is a quite community with a new 5 star resort and masterplanned community called CostaBaja  for those who want to get a way from it all, but still enjoy the good life.  Price points are from 500-2M for large penthouse condo's.  Golf course lots are available as well for those who want to build their dream home.

During my four days there,  I worked as well as managed to get some pooltime, a day at the spa, a game of golf on the new Gary Player golf course and take in some beautiful vistas.

The Property has two marinas, one for sailboats and motor boats under 40" or so and then another one with large vessels.  While I was there, Carlos Slim had his boat moored at the marina.

La Paz has more laid back lifestyle and feel.  It's not a party town, like Cabo, and that's fine by me.  The weather is as predictable there as it is here in Seattle, just the opposite!  It's sunny there every day.  The average temperature is 80 degrees.  There is a breeze that comes off the Sea of Cortez in the mornings and in the evenings, where is will cool down, for dinner in the evening on the patio.   I plan on going back again and again and inviting my friends to join me.   I think it's the perfect get a way for my Northwest life style.

From what I've read, 25% of those retiring will choose to move to another locale.  For Northwesterners it could be Palm Desert or Arizona.  I would love to hear from you about where you dream of having your second home or where you plan to retire.
