Wild Ginger & Isenhower Cellars Dinner to Benefit Camp Korey
Last night Ken and I attended a wine dinner sponsored by the Washington Wines Festival at the home of ZINO Society members, Douglas Howe and Robin DuBrin. Sited high in a fabulous Seattle condo (with an unbelievably spectacular view of downtown Seattle and the waterfront and Elliot Bay), the scene for the party was dramatic, warm, and inviting. This unique home with its' warm and vibrant color palatte, wood finishes, and impressive amounts of glass art throughout is truly show-stopping. Featuring gorgeous glass art pieces and one-of-a-kind installations by Dale Chihuly, Anna Skibska, along with a plethora of other glass artists - the scene was in fact, beautiful. On the center tasting table in Douglas' "Sky Cellar" wine cellar, which has a window overlooking the bay and a large bronze Xian terra cotta soldier replica, guest winemaker Brett Isenhower hand picked all the wines exclusively for our dinner from his Walla Walla winery, Isenhower Cellars.
As we arrived, we were greeted with a lovely 2010 Yakima Valley Pink Paintbrush Rose from Isenhower Cellars. As Brett said, "It's pinkalicious!" Rick Yoder's talented Wild Ginger culinary and service team including Head Sommelier and Operations Manager, Jake Kossef, passed Imperial Tuna and Shrimp Dumplings to pair with the salmon color Rose.
The multiple-course dinner was, for lack of a better term, delicious. Boasting spot prawn sashimi, Otak Otak, Five Spice Chicken, Tan Tan Noodle, Grilled Wagyu Steak, Sea Bass with Black Bean Sauce, Sugar Snap Peas with Ginger and Garlic, and finally, amazing petite Coconut Banana Cream Tartlets. Devine.
Among the intimate group were ZINO Society members Sam Baker, Sarah & John Rindlaub, Michael Brustkern, and Diane & Paul Birkeland. Also in attendance were Janet Le Duc, Anna Skibska and Rick Yoder.
In addtion to the Pink Paintbrush, the Isenhower Cellars wines poured included:
