Auction of Washington Wines : SPOTLIGHTED Picnic Event
With over 1,000 tickets sold, this year's Picnic and Barrel Auction event for the Auction of Washington Wines pulled-in a great group of attendee's. AWW's Executive Director, Sherri Swingle Johnson's revamping of this annual afternoon affair was nothing short of beautiful. Chateau Ste. Michelle's perfectly pruned lawns made for a perfect picnic stage, and for wine lover's, this event is a wonderful venue to mingle and talk wine with the winemaker's personally.
The barrel auction is also a great draw for folks. Offering up the opportunity to taste, and bid on barrels is wonderfully indulgent, and totally fun. While we're talking indulgence...
Enter the "Adult Sweet Shop" (new this year). A veritable maze, the shop was tented, tabled, and tantalizing. Featuring hand-made confections - crafted with what can only be described using a childlike sense of wonder, were out-of-bounds.
The tent in its entirety, was amazing (wedding planners, take note). Imagine grown-up Willy Wonka (strawberry "stamps" - lick-able!) meets Iron chef (adult oreo cookies).

SPOTLIGHT POLL: Hand dipped bacon and maple lollypops....Crazy, or crazy delicious?
The jury is back, and folks they are fantastic. Find them online here...
In all, the changes made to the picnic under Sherris' keen entertainer's eye made for a fresh, innovative, and totally fantastic afternoon affair.
Also worth mention was the food - typically buffet's are, well...blah. The food this year, provided by Tulalip Casino, was out of this world.
