SPOTLIGHTING Gina Pankowski Jewelry
Jewelry and Metal Sculptor Reminiscent of Seattle’s Skyline [gallery link="file"]
Art and Science converge in fine jewelry that comes alive is Gina Pankowski’s vision in her collection featured at Neiman Marcus in Bellevue earlier this month. Maggie B. and I attended the event to learn more about the technology and style behind this award-winning collection.
We found that when viewing the jewelry, you are struck by the beauty of the patterns crafted in gold and silver. They reminded us of the Space Needle and Boeing aircrafts with shapes and angles reminiscent of the structure of a bridge or a child’s toy with the beauty of the seeds in the face of a sunflower.
Then, as you pick up each piece, Gina’s creations come alive in your hand with sound and motion as the bangles roll over your fingers to rest on your wrist. While the three-dimensional pieces have a sense of structure, they gracefully become part of your being.
While her jewelry is bold, we found Gina to be humble and approachable with a sparkling personality. She may not tell you right away but Gina has studied art and art history at the University of Washington and continued on to receive her BA in Fine Art and Metal Design, BA in Art History, and BA in Sculpture. She fell in love with metal and jewelry design and has studied under the Master Silversmith John Marshall and Goldsmith May Lee Hu. She has also received many recognitions in publications such as W Magazine, Ornament, Metalsmiths, and Departures. More information on her modern design and timeless elegance is available on her website, Lattisdesign.com.
Fashionably Yours, Andrea and Maggie B
