Inspired by Navy

Happy New Year Seattle, Like many of you, I find myself reflecting on 2011 and eagerly anticipating the fresh start a new year inevitably bestows upon us.  What does this mean for design? for our homes? for fashion?

What will inspire us?

Here are a few of my latest Navy favorites as we welcome in our new year, 2012.

Without doubt, the most impactful element we can surround ourselves with is color. Ever since a girlfriend gave me a shade of navy blue nail polish I have been indulging a renewed love affair with the color Navy. I have been completely inspired. Of course a neutral, Navy is classic, pure and adds depth like whites and beiges cannot. We recently painted a room in a beach house project a deep shade of navy and the result is so rich and enveloping one can’t help but feel relaxed, tranquil and inspired.

When Benjamin Moore revealed its color palette for 2012, the trends were all about blues and colors that seem to promote comfort and familiarity. Not surprising given the ongoing uncertainty of our times.

Elle Décor Magazine boldly announces that Navy is ‘crisp, cool and forever classic.’
