Seattle Dances! to Raise Money for Plymouth Housing Group
Do you enjoy watching ‘Dancing with the Stars’? Located much closer to home, the annual Seattle Dances! event is full of glamour. Rehearsals are going on now for the event which will be held in a month on March 3rd, 2012. Similar to the dearly beloved ‘DWTS,’ Seattle’s very own local luminaries have been coupled with professional dancers from the Century Ballroom and will be training up to 15 weeks to compete for one of the three Mirror Ball Trophies. The Cyber Choice trophy will be awarded to the Celebrity Dancer who raises the most money online prior to the event, the People’s Choice trophy will be presented to the team that raises the most money through the “Raise the Paddle” bids, and the Judges’ Choice trophy will be presented to the most accomplished, creative, and energetic team of the evening. Each couple will strive to perfect a stellar 2-3 minute dance number and perform for the judges and the audience, which can include you!
Fremont Studios will be hosting the 3rd Annual Dinner, Auction, and Dance Competition on Saturday, March 3rd beginning at 5pm. Besides providing outstanding entertainment, Seattle Dances benefits Plymouth Housing Group’s programs and services for formerly-homeless people living in the Plymouth apartments. To combat homelessness and stabilize the lives of low-income people, the Plymouth Housing Group is dedicated to providing supportive and affordable housing to those less fortunate and helping them get back on their feet again. In 2011, Seattle Dances raised over $425,000 for Plymouth Housing. Your support will help nearly 1,000 people.
Evening Honorees will be Christine Hurley and Marlys Erickson. Christine Hurley has previously served as the director of Bailey-Boushay House at Virginia Mason Medical and Marlys Erickson currently serves as the executive director of the Pike Place Market Foundation.
