The Hope Heart Institute was founded in 1959 by the world-renowned cardiac surgeon Dr. Lester Sauvage in order to pioneer innovative and prevention treatments that are still used by today’s tops scientists, research coordinators, cardiologists, and educators. The Washington-based institution has been striving to combat heart disease,America’s number one cause of death, with revolutionary medical advances and educational curricula. It is dedicated to preventing and treating heart and blood vessel disease as well as improving the qualities of life that are at risk or has been affected by cardiovascular disease.
Heart Disease takes more lives than the next five top causes of death combined. Therefore, the Hope Heart program is continuously conducting basic and translational science that will change the future of how heart disease will be prevented and treated. The Hope Heart Program is committed to making a difference in the battle against heart disease and stroke but as a non-profit, it relies heavily on gifts from individuals, corporations, and foundations. Every gift received supports the work of the hard-working researchers and educators who devote their lives to combating cardiovascular disease.
