Seattle's 2012 St. Patrick's Day Dash!
Kick off your St. Patrick’s day with a morning jog (or should I say sprint!) in the St. Patrick’s Day Dash! Beginning at 8:30 am, on Saturday March 17, runners and walkers can participate in a nearly four mile run to benefit the Detlef Schrempf Foundation in support of Northwest children’s charities. The dash begins at Third and Mercer and continues into a South Lake Union neighborhood, then heads out to the Aurora Bridge and finishes at Fifth and Harrison. All of the proceeds will go to four different organizations which include Camp Fire USA Puget Sound Council, Seattle Children’s Austism Center, Rise n’ Shine and the Healing Center.
All ages can partake in this St. Patrick’s Day Dash which means parents are welcome to bring their kids. In fact, the dash will begin at 8:00am with the leprechaun lap for girls and boys who are ten and under. This is a half mile route where one parent is allowed to run alongside their child for this event.
The regular dash will begin at 8:30 am sharp and participants will be broken into four waves. The first two waves are timed and the last two are untimed, so no pressure to break your personal best, its all fun here! And strollers are allowed in the untimed waves. Everyone is encouraged to dress up and run in costumes for added excitement. Don’t be surprised if a leprechaun passes you by!
After the run, is the Post Dash Bash. The Stout Pounders will be performing at the International Fountain and Fisher Pavilion. There will be free food, giveaways and entertainment and also the opportunity to check out the sponsor booths.
Registration closes on March 14th, so make sure to sign up immediately if you haven’t yet!
