Designer Spotlight: Bri Seeley
I met Bri Seeley last year at the Grand Opening of the Seattle Chocolates retail store. I was there to help run the event and so was able to see into the chocolate room a little early. I walked back into the chocolate room like a kid in Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory. It smelled like warm chocolate. There was lots of color. And right in the middle of the room were three dresses made with fabric that matched some of the most iconic Seattle Chocolates wrapping. They were fantastic. I thought to myself, “Who designed these great dresses?” Then standing nearby, was Bri Seeley.
She introduced herself to me as the designer of the dresses. We had a short conversation but have since kept in touch. She even let me borrow a dress she created to wear to the Oscar Night events I was attending!
Bri is much more than a designer for chocolates though. She creates contemporary and uniquely feminie garments with great care and attention. Each piece is designed to enhance the female figure and allow the wearers’ inner beauty to shine. The styles are simple and classic with intriguing details and high-quality fabrics and all of her work is made in the Pacific Northwest! When I was getting ready for the Oscar night events, I took a trip to visit Bri and had a terribly difficult time selecting just one dress to wear… every single one I tried on was stunning in its own way!
Her history in fashion dates back to her childhood when her grandmother taught her to sew while living in rural Minnesota. Since then she has continued to grow her knowledge throughout high school and into college where she received a Fashion Design major from North Dakota State University. After college, she spent two years in Florence, Italy where she attended Accademia Italiana and obtained her Masters Diploma. Throughout her studies, Bri discovered a deep love and affection for historic fashion and nature which inspire and influence her work.
Bri Seeely first launched her ready-to-wear collection in August 2011. Her second collection, Illumination, will be available on her website in April 2012!
