SAMS' Gardens of Art for True believers
This year’s exciting Gardens of Art Party and Luncheon will be held on Monday, May 21st at Bill and Ruth True’s stunning property in Washington Park. Join Bill and Ruth for a wonderful day among friends and artists, as well as a luncheon for a small group of guests.
Bill & Ruth True are collectors with a difference and are widely considered to be among the top 200 art collectors in the world. Not only do they collect new media artists—artists with and on the cutting edge—but they also make their collection available to the public through their nonprofit gallery called Western Bridge.
Gardens of Art is put together by the amazing Seattle Art Museum Supporters (SAMS), which is a dedicated group of nearly two hundred Seattle area women who are committed to fundraising for the Seattle Art Museum. The mission of SAMS is to expand the support of the Seattle Art Museum through fundraising and promotional efforts and to provide educational opportunities for its members. Since its inception in 1985, SAMS has raised nearly $4.8 million to fund selected Seattle Art Museum projects, including exhibitions, capital campaigns, arts education, museum publications, public transportation for school age children and endowment funds. They educate their members through intriguing monthly programs in special venues, including private homes and corporate art collections that are not open to the general public. Membership into SAMS is by invitation only. On top of Gardens of Art, SAMS also traditionally holds other fundraisers including the Fall Fundraiser and Nordstrom Designer Preview.
All Gardens of Art guests will receive a tour of the True residence and their extensive collection, access to the garden party, and a seat at the luncheon catered by Matthew Dillon, who has recently been named the Best Chef: Northwest by the James Beard Foundation. Guests will also receive a special gift from Calidora Skin Clinic, Far4, and Theo Chocolates, as well as complimentary valet.
