Celebrate the Creative at the SAM Remix
To kick off the month of June, the Seattle Art Museum is hosting the SAM Remix. June 1st and 2nd from 8pm until midnight explore the “creative explosion” as the arts around Seattle combine for an evening of entertainment. The SAM Remix will feature DJ J-Justice from TRUST, City Soul, and KBCS 91.3FM as he spins a collaborative remix of global, soul, and hip hop beats. Performances from Midday Veil and Paul Rucker will happen between 9pm and 10:45pm in dedicated areas of the museum. A storytelling word slam by writer Christa Bell, SAM performances with Seattle Phonographers Union and DJ Riz are sure to entertain throughout the night. Also contributing to the creative evening are Sol Hashemi and Elizabeth Abrahamson who are holding a garage sale to give their art a new life. Guests can create a shimmering body art with Janet Fagan and a sculpture garden with Romson Bustillo. Other attendees you won’t want to miss include: artist and Stranger Genius nominee, Amanda Manitach; scholars, Brenda Croft and Chris McAuliffe; artists John Feodorov and Matika Wilbur; event designer, Cori Ready; and SAM Education & Community Engagement Committee Members, Ryan and Luanda Arai.
This year’s event is sponsored by The Wallace Foundation, Starbucks, KEXP 90.3 FM, The Stranger, and Uber. Tickets for the SAM Remix are $12 for Seattle Art Museum members, $20 for student tickets, and adult tickets are $25.
