Garden to Table: All About Peas
Peas are the ultimate spring vegetable and lucky for us they are ready to be devoured! On Wednesday, June 13, Seattle Tilth presents Garden to Table: All About Peas, a class that will be bringing the garden to your table. This class is being held at The Good Shepherd Center at 6:00pm and starts out in the garden to admire the three different types of peas: snow, shell and snap. Instructors will discuss how to cultivate and harvest these fresh vegetables until they have reached the point of perfection.
Snow peas are a young and edible flat pod with immature peas inside.
Shell peas need to be removed from a pod before eating.
Snap peas have sweet, edible pods and peas.
After learning about the cultivation of these bright green pods, the class will move into the kitchen where you will learn how to maximize the flavor of your peas and cook up delicious dishes featuring these sweet veggies. There are different methods when it comes to cooking and handling these distinct peas therefore this class will take place both indoors and outdoors with hands-on components. Please dress appropriately for the weather as well as messy garden and kitchen activities!
