Sing Out! Presented by Seattle Men's Chorus
After much anticipation, the Seattle Men’s Chorus is finally presenting an exciting, new, interactive kind of show. Friday, June 22nd and Satruday June 23rd at MccHaw Hall will be SMC’s very first Sing Out event! http://flyinghouse.org/SMC/2011-12/singout.asp
For the first time, SMC subscribers and ticket holders will be able to help choose the songs the Choir will perform through an online voting system. The program for the event will ultimately be generated by this new kind of participatory audience. Even more intriguing, the show will begin with a singing competition in which talented winners of several Seattle-area singing competitions will compete for the chance to be and SMC backup vocalist! Audience voting determines the winner.
Since its founding in 1979, the Seattle Men’s Choir is the Largest Community Choir in North America. The organization consists of both the Men’s and Woman Singing Choirs, and two branch-off choirs, Captain Smartypants and Sensible Shoes. All together, the choir is recognized as the largest chorus in America.
Throughout the years the SMC has participated in concerts both in our region and around the globe. Just in our state alone, over 25,000 people attend the five-concert series each season and thousands more will see each chorus in other performances as the choir sings at state, national, and international levels every year. Additionally, the SMC has been recognized for its service work and the impact it has made in the world of organized music. The staff of SMC has conducted management workshops for startup chorus’s and ranks third among state music organizations for being one of the most influential, popular, and well-run chorus’s.
No doubt Sing Out will be nothing less than a full-scale production!
