The Three P’s for Living Your Ideal Life
Just last Tuesday, I returned from co-hosting my first “Renew You Retreat” at The Villa at PGA West in beautiful La Quinta, California. It was the most amazing experience, knowing that this retreat was simply a dream – a mere vision- about fourteen months ago… and there I was, living out that dream! Our Renew You Retreat began each morning with a 7:30am yoga class, led by the amazing Katie Wygant (co-founder of Renew You Retreats) followed by a delicious breakfast prepared by a nutrition chef from San Diego, Evelyne Lambrecht. We had massage therapists set up in the casita each day for wonderful, hour-long massages, optional workouts throughout each day, and for the first time, I hosted my inspirational workshops, featuring my “Elevate Your Presence” series.
On “Day One,” my workshop was titled “Clearly Set Your Intentions and Ideal Life.” I began by asking one question: “When was the last time you were truly living in the moment -- excited, blissful, completely happy… and there was nowhere else you wanted to be?”
Like most women I know, our guests noticed they didn’t take much time to focus on their own lives, their own dreams, their own happiness. As life became “busier and busier,” and they permitted others or circumstances to dictate their schedules, their own dreams were set aside. What happened to the concept of living your happiest life? If you’re rolling your eyes right now, thinking “I can’t…” or “I shouldn’t” or “It’s selfish,” then I really want you to think about it. Think about the people you love the most in your life. If they shared with you their biggest dreams and goals, would you support it? Or would you say, “You can’t. You shouldn’t. It’s selfish.” Hopefully, you would be supportive and lift up others around you, just as you should elevate yourself.
You CAN live your ideal life, if you clearly set your intentions and priorities, and have them reflected in your everyday schedule. All you have to do is shift your awareness and live with what I call the “Three P’s”: live in the PRESENT, live with PURPOSE and live with PASSION. If you ever wake up feeling a little “off,” just remember to live with those three P’s, every hour of the day, and hopefully you’ll be smiling within no time.
