A Day in the SPOTLIGHT with Amy Yamada
I began contributing to Spotlight Seattle earlier this year, and it has been such a positive and wonderful experience. As someone who loves writing, enjoys connecting with other entrepreneurial professionals and sharing stories of life experiences, Spotlight Seattle has provided a perfect space for ALL of that! For me, writing is such a creative outlet and a way that brings people together, and as I continue with my own life’s journey, I believe in inspiring others any way possible, whether I’m speaking at a conference, writing and sharing through my monthly column, offering my “Amy’s Unsolicited Advice for the Day,” hosting a Renew You Retreat, or simply, in day-to-day conversations.
Since contributing to Spotlight Seattle, I have shared my personal story of losing my sweet mother a little over a year ago, and how a trip I took months after she passed changed my life-- along with my newfound perspectives and the importance of focusing on my bigger purpose. Just as I’ve learned and been inspired by my mentors and experiences throughout life, I believe in “paying it forward” and empowering others to live their happiest and healthiest lives.
Recently, I fulfilled one of my own dreams, by co-founding and co-hosting my first Renew You Retreat in Southern California. It has also been exhilarating to share the big updates on Renew You Retreats and have people from all over the globe, rooting us on and supporting the concept of renewal and rejuvenation so we can all live better, happier lives!
This past year has been a journey in itself; I went from working full time for the media to launching my own inspirational business and living out my truest of passions of success mentoring, emceeing, writing and hosting retreats. Being authentic, fearless and not sweating the small stuff has opened so many doors, and I am grateful for every part of it. My vision is to help people open their eyes to see the gifts in life every single day, and I love being able to share my vision through Spotlight Seattle. Thanks to Connie Blumenthal and her wonderful team for welcoming me as a contributor. I don’t know that I ever told Connie herself that writing has been a dream of mine for the past couple of years, so thank you so much for the opportunity to be a part of this great team!
Happy Anniversary, Spotlight Seattle! Here’s to many more!
