BAM ignites the East side with fresh talent
Bellevue Art Museum opened its doors this week to let the people vote for their favorite up and coming artists in the area. They hosted a trendy celebration for these artists and supporters with champagne, hor d'oeuvres, circus arts spectacles, DJs and crafts! With a festive Bellevue scene and a corky dress theme, this event was one for the calendar :D
While BAMignite was celebrating these nominated artists, it was also highlighting all of its newest exhibitions including Nikki McClure. Her work is inspired by daily life, she uses black paper as her only medium and an X-ACTO blade as her only tool. McClure's work is intricate and precise, bringing such emotion from a simple black sheet of paper. On display are several calendars, notebooks, and hand sketches.
Also featured is Modern Twist: Contemporary Japanese Bamboo Art. This exhibit shows how the incredible art of bamboo weaving has taken a turn since the mid-twentieth century. The sculptures are made into nonfunctional shapes and forms that challenge previous conventions. There are quite a few artists featured in this exhibit with many of them displaying their work here in the U.S. for the first time, at BAM!
Needless to say there is so much so see at BAM. Go check out all these inspiring local and visiting pieces. Click here to check out tickets and hours.
